The extraction of molybdenum
Molybdenum comes from a sulphide ore called molybdenite. First, the ore must be crushed into a powder and then the copper sulphide must be separated from the rest. What is left is molybdenum sulphide and that is roasted. Now there is molybdenum concentrate and that is then made into molybdenum oxide. After that, the molybdenum oxide "goes through a two-step hydrogen reduction process, [and] produces molybdenum metal" (Bell, 2011). (Bell, 2011)
